Alongside world-class refined restaurants, São Paulo offers also more relaxed options which do not compromise on food quality and are equally easy on the eye.
Las Chicas is definitely one of those places, where I enjoy to drop by for a brunch or a "lanche da tarde", especially if the weather does not suggest taking a walk in Ibirapuera or stroll down Artur de Azevedo to shop for cool apparel at the concept store Cartel 011.
Located on the ground floor of an unassuming building, this restaurant is a "gourmet garage" hidden on the non-pretentious side of Rua Oscar Freire.
What I like the most is the cozy feeling that permeates the place and adds charme to the great food. It's basically dropping by a friend's kitchen for a good bite and a few laughs.
The cuisine proposed by Carla and Carolina - two cooks with experience matured across the globe - is multi-cultural, with influences from as far as North America and Morocco (as displayed by the exceptional cous-cous), without departing from its Brazilian roots.
Open from breakfast to dinner, the restaurant offers options for all tastes. On the weekend, a mouth-watering buffet welcomes patrons with fresh salads, home-cooked pasta and lasagne, as well as main courses of meat and fish.
Never leave without having tasted one of their great desserts. On a recent visit, I couldn't resist their dark chocolate and berries gateu, apple pie cocotte, and mixed fruit crumble. Simply delicious!
